Story of Bohdan

Bohdan

Returned from occupation in 2025

At the age of 17, while Bohdan was studying in occupied Crimea, he received a summons to a Russian military enlistment office. After being threatened with being sent “to the front line,” Bohdan fled Crimea and spent nearly two years hiding from the military enlistment office.

For a long time, he could not return to Ukraine because his mother was hiding his Ukrainian documents. In 2025, Bohdan was able to briefly return to Crimea, retrieve his birth certificate, and began looking for a way home. With the assistance of the Plakhta Charitable Foundation, he returned to Ukraine on December 31, 2025, where he had no close relatives or acquaintances.

After returning, Bohdan received temporary accommodation and financial support. Later, he moved into a social apartment in Kyiv and applied for his first Ukrainian passport. He plans to work and later continue his education.
