We have two more heartwarming stories of return: as part of the President’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative and with the support of the Ombudsman’s Office of Ukraine, a 17-year-old boy and two young children have safely returned to Ukraine from temporarily occupied territories.
A young mother of multiple children was forced to leave Ukraine due to the war. Tragically, her two little sons remained in a temporarily occupied area, and financial difficulties made it impossible for her to bring them back on her own. Every day, the boys faced the dangers of constant shelling, while their mother lived in perpetual anxiety. Thanks to the efforts of Ukrainian authorities, volunteers, and international partners, the children were evacuated and reunited with their mother. Now the family is together and safe.
A 17-year-old boy faced persecution and threats from the occupying authorities due to his support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and his strong pro-Ukrainian stance. He was repeatedly interrogated but, with the help of the Ombudsman’s Office and our partners, managed to evacuate from the occupied territory. The boy is now safe, receiving assistance to obtain new documents, as well as humanitarian and financial support. He is preparing to continue his education at a Ukrainian institution.
The return of every child from deportation or temporarily occupied territories is a significant victory in the fight for our future. Behind these stories lies an immense effort, dedication, and unwavering belief. Each saved Ukrainian child is another step toward restoring justice and unity in our country.
