On June 12, 2024, the Austrian Parliament adopted a resolution unanimously supporting the initiative to return Ukrainian children who were illegally deported to Russia. The resolution condemns Russia's actions, identifying the forced deportation of Ukrainian children from Ukraine as a "war crime."
In the resolution, Austrian parliamentarians urged Austria's Federal Minister for European and International Affairs, Alexander Schallenberg, to intensify efforts on both European and international levels to ensure the safe return of Ukrainian kids to their homeland.
The resolution also aligned Austria with the work of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, a coalition established under the leadership of Ukraine and Canada.
